THERAPEUTIC JUSTICE COURT  (TJC)

Outpatient Treatment

(minimum 12 months)

The Bay County Therapeutic Justice Court Program is designed to help individuals in the criminal justice system with a mental health diagnosis that contributed in part to the     commission of the criminal act, in    which the defendant is now charged. TJC is a voluntary program entered into by a defendant seeking an alternative to typical case processing and who finds it difficult to manage their mental health or gain access to treatment without assistance. Phase 1: Stabilization, Assessment and Treatment Planning, Phase 2: Treatment and Phase 3: Graduation Planning.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

· Must have a mental health diagnosis

· Willingness to participate in treatment

· Stable housing and transportation

· Limited criminal history

· TJC team has to approve

DISQUALIFIERS

· Firearm or weapon charges

· Drug trafficking

· Felony child abuse, neglect, or sex related offenses

· Aggravated battery and/or assault charges (some exclusions)

· Domestic Violence (need victim consent/approval before accepted into the program) 

· Incarcerated more than once within the Department of corrections.
